Rare lot of literature issued by the General Hail Storm Insurance Society in the 1840s. There are 4 different items: Promotional 4-page pamphlet listing the directors and patrons of the Society and a list of the devastating hailstorms in Britain from 1800 to 1843. The objective is to get farmers and others to insure against the effects of hailstorms. Size is 7” x 5” approx. Some foxing but condition otherwise good: Single sheet showing rates of insurance for different crops. Single page. Same size as other leaflet.
